What are the odds: Devils are winning 2-0 yesterday till the 3rd and Lowell's winning 1-0 till the 3rd. They score in the 1st couple minutes to make it 2-0. Then Doyle decides to pull a Marty and suck in the 3rd and the shoot out. Pelley and Marshall scored in the shoot out. It went to sudden death but Doyle couldnt make another save and Bergfors couldnt score. Great. I hate shoot outs.
But I can't help but think we would have won had Parise played. Maybe it's just because I'm both obsessed and somewhat crazy.
3 Stars:
Pelley (Lowell)
Mottau (Lowell)
Toybanan(sp?)(Providence)
And more good news...Worster's in OT. They cant win. We'll be in 5th.

3/2 Game Night
So I decided to try my first somewhat in game coverage. Since I've had trouble multitasking lately, I'm doing it between periods.
Final Thought: how many times must I tell them to keep Patrik Elias away from shootouts? If they had listened to me and put Jamie in before Patrik, we could have won it. But no, they just HAD to put Patrik up there. Stupid people. Oh well. Hopefully we'll win the next one. And I'm never gonna say they're most likely gonna win again. Ever.
Final:
Great. Just great. The Devils needed this win. And Marty decides he wants to suck in the 3rd period and the shoot out. So now we're 4 points behind Buffalo (their game's not over, but it's 7-5 Buffalo). And since Buffalo plays Toronto tomorrow we're now gonna be 6 points behind them. Wonderful.
On a somewhat brighter note, Sergei Brylin scored a PPG in the third, tying the game and getting us that one point. Unfortunately, he couldnt be the hero in the shoot out and score.
Where's Gio when you need him?
2nd:
So now it's 2-0 Devils. Brian Rafalski and Patrik Elias got the assists on Jamie Langenbrunner's goal (22nd of the season) at :57 into the 2nd. Jay Pandolfo got the other goal (10th of season) with Colin White and Erik Rasmussen picking up the assists.
So there was some action right near the beginning of the second with Cam Janssen checking what's his name. If you ask me, that dude was being too dramatic. It took like, what, 10 minutes to get him off the ice? I know it must have hurt, but please. Gionta got tripped and then ended up smashing into the boards with his grion already pulled and he didnt have to be dragged off the ice. He got to the bench ok, then walked to the locker room like it was nothing. Well, except for the look on his face. You could tell he was in pain, but at least he didnt get everybody to drag him off (trust me, I was there). I know Cam was a bit late on the hit, but what's his name should have been paying attention and tried to keep his footing. They didn't call a penalty, but Janssen gets a 3 game suspention. That's life.
1st:
No score, but you can't say it was eneventful. Period ended with a powerplay for the Devils that'll be carried over into the second, along with 2 other Devils power plays, which of course, they failed to score in. Not that they didn't try, though. Power plays aren't excatly our strong point. Our penalty kill was good though. After Jamie Langenbrunner was wrongly accused of high sticking (yeah, I know, if it was the other team, I would have said they deserved a major penalty for that, but whatever), we did some damn good penalty killing if I do say so myself. Any way...nothing else happened really...so I lied, this period was somewhat uneventful. But I have to admit, the end was pretty funny. It looked to me like Colin White started that, er, crowd gathering, if you will, and what happened? Devils got a power play. Oh well. Sucks for the Leafs. I loved how White was sitting there smirking at the guys. He was like "haha you guys suck." Almost as priceless as Cam Janssen after that fight on the 14th, or when he was screaming at lundqvist, king of shootouts, after avery started that shit with Marty.
Anyway I'm gonna stop talking now, cuz the second period started and- OHMIZACHPARISEJAMIELANGENBRUNNERJUSTSCORED!!!
Now i'm done. I'll be back in about 20 minutes.
(Thank God my computer's in the living room.)

3/2 Preview: Devils vs Toronto
So tonight the Devils face the Toronto Maple Leafs for the 3rd time this season.
The first time they faced each other this season was 10/12 (my birthday!!) @ CAA. Devils won, 7-6 in a shoot out with goals from: John Madden (2), Sergei Brylin (1) and Brian Gionta (3) and assists from Jay Panfolfo (Madden (2)), Sergei Brylin (Madden), Colin White (Madden), Paul Martin (Brylin, Gionta), Madden (Brylin), Brian Rafalski (Gionta), Patrik Elias (Gionta), Scott Gomez (Gionta (2)), and Jamie Langenbrunner (Gionta). Brian Gionta and John Madden both scored in the shoot out.
Second time was 11/18. Devils won again with goals from Jamie Langenbrunner and Patrik Elias and assists from Zach Parise (Langenbrunner), Colin White (Langenbrunner), and Brian Gionta (Elias).
Gionta (who, sadly, most likely isnt playing tonight) leads the Devils against Toronto with 3g and 1a.
My take: Even without Gionta, I think the Devils have a good chance of winning, as long as Brdoeur and the rest of the team are as awesome as usual.

My player of the month? I would love to say Zach Parise, but I have to say either Marty Brodeur or Scotty Clemmensen. Marty had 9 wins, 3 of which were shut outs, and only 3 loses. Clemmy, on the other hand, got only his 3rd start, but his first win. Plus who can forget his 35 saves down (or up??) in Lowell, leading them to a 3-0 victory.
February was a good month...let's hope March thru June are just as good.

2/27/06- 1-0, Devils
OK, so I'm a few days late but whatever. I'm slow, get used to it.
So Tuesday, the Devils beat the Penguins 1-0 (yeah, I know, no duh). Jamie Langenbrunner scored the only goal (PPG) at :33 into the 2nd with Scott Gomez and captain Patrik Elias picking up the assists. Martin Brodeur had 31 saves through out the game, getting his season-high 12th shut out (92nd career).
There was only one goal, but the game sure was exciting. Brodeur made some pretty amazing saves, most in the 3rd, and for the last 1:31, the Penguins had a 6 on 4 power play, with Erik Rasmussen in the penalty box for hooking (yeah, we sure get penalties at the best times) and the Pens having pulled G Marc-Andre Fleury. Brodeur remained strong and kept everything throw at him out of the net (cuz he's amazing like that).
The Devils were 1/5 on the power play, while the Pens were 0/6, including a 4 on 3, with Janssen, Gomez, and Thorburn in the box at 3:22 into the first, all for roughing.
The Devils play the Penguins twice more this season, on March 8th (away) and March 14th (home). Their next game is this Friday at home against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The action starts at 7:30.
Notes:
Devils finished up the month of February 10-3, with no shoot out or overtime loses. Yeah, we're awesome.
Jamie Langenbrunner's goal was his 21st of the season, and 10th PPG of the season, tying with Brian Gionta for most PPGs.
Zach Parise leads the team with 26 goals, while Scott Gomez leads with 40 assists. Patrik Elias has most points on the team (59).
Brian Gionta missed his 7th consectutive (yeah, I know, that's probably not spelled right) due to a groin injury. HOPEFULLY the Rochester Rocket will play on Friday.
Devils only made one trade this season, sending David Hale and a 2007 5th selection to Calgary for a 3rd round selection. Plus they sent Aaron Voros (Lowell, AHL) to Minnesota for a 2008 7th round pick.
My Take: This all works for me. Hale didn't do too much for the team and now there's room under the cap for Richard Matvichuk to return (which, hopefully will be very soon). This also leaves an open spot on defense for Lowell's Andy Greene. Greene is a very good player, with 5 goals and 16 assists down with Lowell.
Final thought: Gio tomorrow??
